Robert Pleasants was a Quaker merchant, planter, and enslaver-turned-abolitionist who spent most of his life in Henrico County, Virginia. James Harford (d. ca. 1829) was a Quaker merchant of Bristol, England, partner in the firm of Robson & Harford. Following the death of Joseph Robson, he became the sole proprietor of this mercantile firm.
